Welcome to 2013 where many children own iPhones, iPads, or some variation of a touch screen tablet. Whether it’s an apple product, a Samsung product or even a leap frog our children are learning in ways that we would’ve never imagined. For Christmas my mom got me an iPad and I was beyond excited until I sat down with it and wondered ‘what do I do with an iPad.’ I mean, I already have a laptop and I have an iPhone and they pretty much do what I need them to do. That is until my 8GB iPhone began to tell me I was running out of space and that’s when I had my ah-ha moment of moving non-essential apps to my iPad such as games and social network apps. Little did I know the time I thought I was going to spend playing candy crush on my iPad was about to end immediately.

30 poems. 30 days: Day 24- Milestones (For my Husband)
Today I celebrate 30 years in the life of my husband! If you have had the pleasure of meeting Scott or talking to him you will know that he is such a one of a kind spirit. Thoughtful, giving, never meets a stranger and just a cool cat to be around. I am forever thankful that God told you I am she that you would spend forever with. Words don't do justice to express my love for you. I learn so much from your calm nature; you make me a better woman. I pray that God will continue to guide you as you press into your purpose with more passion and belief that He will do what He said He would do in your life and the lives of those you touch. I wish I could give you a portion of ALL that you give to me. I adore you, I support you, I celebrate you in this life and the next! #nomakeup
What does your attitude towards your atmosphere say about your alliance with God... Goodbye 2012
2012 began with sacrifice.
And I don’t know if you’ve have ever had to give up something you love but it’s not easy. When Scott and I were dating I had this sweater duster that I absolutely adored. I guess after seeing me in it morning, noon, and night he informed me that when we got married that duster would have to go. (Sad face)

Seeing how serious he was I wore that mug out leading up to the day we got married and sure enough the time came for me to part ways with it.
Some “stuff” we hold on to represents a time/season in our life that speaks to who we were. We find comfort in keeping these things close by because they make us feel, well, comfortable. But there will come a time when God will ask you part ways with something much bigger than a duster and you can choose to swallow your pain and be obedient or you can choose to rebel. I love my Daddy too much to rebel against His requests and no one ever said that submission and obedience were the easiest task to complete. This year we let go of so much (I would say lost but that would indicate regret) to find ourselves in a place of simplistic living very painful to endure.
And in EVERYTHING give Thanks... Day 7
"May our love forever run smooth like butter..."
Scott Miller II
On this 7th day I am thankful for my husband.
I have met many people in life but I have never met anyone with the heart, the drive, the humility, and God fearing qualities that my husband has. And there are people you meet in life who you think wow they are good people (where I'm from that's a huge compliment) but if you have ever met my husband you would say that and more.
He's more than just good people he's an awesome friend.
The type of friend the average person doesn't deserve nor appreciate.
He's an amazing man of God.
The type of man who stays in his word, worships in his car, and will give you the "what would Jesus do" type of response when you're ready to get "bout it" on someone. LOL!
His spirit instantly calms you.
His ambition encourages you to reach higher, do better, want more, push further.
His faithfulness in every area of his life convicts you on the areas where you slack.
He's smart, he's funny, I keep him young because I'm so goofy, and he's a man I praise God for creating just for me.
Our spirits are kindred; my other half indeed.
In meeting him I learned how to love someone with my full heart. I put myself out there and he didn't let me fall.
He encourages me beyond the greatness I fail to tap into.
He builds me up out of my deep and pitiful places.
He leads our household with God on his heart and mind.
I'm giving you the best that I've got.
Thank you for loving me the way that you do!

Punctuate my high note
Can I be the period behind your S.
The end to all of your sentences.
The transition into your paragraphs.
The comma to make sure you pause.
A rebel without a cause.
Take me,
my beauty,
and all of my flaws.
Dropping panties, you drop the drawers.
Late night talks, long distance calls.
4 a beautiful song
And in EVERYTHING give Thanks... Day 6
“No self-respecting woman should wish or work for the success of a party that ignores her sex.”
Susan B. Anthony, 1872.
Today I’m thankful to be a woman who rocks her right to vote!
Made It In America-Kanye, Jay-Z, Frank Ocean
I think it’s important for your voice to be heard. You spend a period of time taking in the information, being objective (I hope), and ultimately making the best choice for your desires for the future. As a woman having someone in place who recognizes that beyond our womanhood we are teachers, leaders, ministers, lovers, peacemakers, we hold high offices, we raise families (sometimes by ourselves) and we make it look damn good, is very important to me.
We are also faced with decisions we don’t want to make, condemned for wanting to choose who we love and how we express ourselves, attacked in alleys we don’t want to be in, judged by the length of our skirts and deemed worthy of being victimized. For me I need someone who will envision a future for women on equal standing ground, protected from the thieves, and praised for her great deeds.
Women stood up, spoke out, marched, and made MOVEments so that I could utilize this platform that God gave me to do the same.
So…
For public education.
For financial aid. For birth control.
For control of my body.
For WOMEN!
For equality.
For not dying from disease.
For being fair.
For the 47%.
For understanding that God is the only person who can judge how a person lives and the choices they make not MAN.
I voted because too many stood for me not to do so!
We will move Forward. Press Onward.
It is done.
If we, as a community, will stop trying to go against the grain and really step out on a mission to make a difference more could get done than we allow our eyes to see.

For my son.
Your son. Your daughters.
Cousins, siblings, friends, and family.
Be the change!

All my Love,
And in EVERYTHING give Thanks... Day 5
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

Today I am thankful for my Boys!
You think you've discovered all you needed to know about love when you meet someone who loves you beyond your own understanding. There are days I don't love me but yet this person loves me even more during those times I'm at my worse. And then you become a mother and if you've glanced at my early posts from when my son was born you will know that loving someone that much is a love that only God can create; an act of courage to bring life into this world. It's beautiful in a way that the word fails to describe.
Coming from a family of women I never imagined singing Run The World by myself lol but I honestly couldn't imagine life being any other way.
I love my boys, they love me (especially since I feed them and take care of them) ;) & I like to believe I bring an element to their lives their souls needed!
So! Let's hear it for the boys!!

"I told our guys that we're going to have to keep fighting in this game and keep punching until we knock them out"-Coach Nick Saban
Today I'm thankful for an alma mater with a football program that creates a community of love and friendship no matter where you go.
While traveling this weekend I met a lot of Bama fans and alumni on and off the train. Never once going through an interrogation period but merely shouting the words ROLL TIDE automatically makes you "pretty cool" in their book.
Win or lose The University of Alabama has stood the test of time and I couldn't be happier with my choice in higher education as I am with the friendships and experiences I gained in the process.
For celebrating the good times!!!
Roll Tide!

Today I'm thankful for the beauty of God.
My favorite movie of all time (if you've been around me long enough you've already finished the sentence) is The Color Purple. In that movie (Dear Lord if you've never seen it please check it out) one of the characters Shug Avery says, "I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it."
Having watched that movie and read the book a million times that quote still sticks with me even though I know that God isn't an angry God but how often do we fail to notice the beauty of the life He's created around us. Or the clouds, or the changing of the seasons, the moon, the bare trees, the grass, life?
How often do we fail to realize our own beauty? The flaws, the cute mole on our foot, or the baby love trails on our bellies. ;)
God is so beautiful in such an amazing way we often times miss His beauty too busy being caught up in the mess the enemy stirs up. So I encourage you to take time to inhale the changes around you. Someone can't or never took the time to!
Be in love!
Seasons change.

My blog. My book. A thankful Journey...
I have a phone full of notes,
well reminders,
My rat pack +1
I’m thankful for your friendship in its own form. I’m thankful for your support. For keeping me from level 10 because we know it’s easy for me to get there. I’m thankful that we create our own blueprint and for that, individually, we’ve stood the test of time!
I wish everyone a safe holiday.
Happy eating. Happy fellowship.
Be sure to take some time to think about what you’re thankful for.
Tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone so do it now and ENJOY!
well reminders,
of topics I want to discuss
so I’ll get to those...
eventually.
(That’s what you have to do when you have a little one on your brain)
But with Thanksgiving on Thursday I wanted to do a thankful post.
Life.
I always think about how I don’t have to be here. That this moment, this air, this blood flowing throughout me, heart beating is a gift. I don’t take that for granted because many didn’t make it to November 22; many won’t make it to the 24th. For that I praise Him for keeping me around a little longer to do the work that He has called me to do.
God (My daddy).
For YOUR grace, mercy, and unconditional, non-judgmental, peaceful love. The struggles I’ve faced, the battles I’ve fought spiritually and carnally, the answers I’ve needed You’ve been there every step of the way. To get me right together and to constantly remind me who has the control. I’m thankful that You call me friend.
My Family.
Full of laughs. Constant support. Whacky when you want to be but I couldn’t imagine being a part of any other circle of love. I’m thankful for family bond! My Husband.
My buddy, best fran, lover, my right hand man, my main squeeze, the one who keeps me sane, calls me out when I’m wrong, loves me in every aspect that love can exist. Throughout all of my personalities, ;) the best of the better days and the worst of the worse, you never give up. You believe all things, hopes all things; your love never fails. I love you.My SUN (son).
He’s the brightest star in my heart. No other sound moves me more than his laughter, his smiles, the way his eyes light up when he sees me, his peaceful rest, his curiosity, his growth; I couldn’t imagine life without him. I’m thankful that God chose me and I’m thankful that I have the well being to take on the task of motherhood. For my favorite boy in the world… Momma loves you! My piglet.
We’re not mushy. We laugh more than we cry. We joke more than we’re serious. We play more than we sit still. We quote movies into our daily conversations. We’re goofy although you’d claim you were much cooler than I am. We need space and more than likely you’ll be the first to hang up. Then we stalk on the phone. We text incessantly. I tell you to tweet you tell me no. We’re each other’s wonder pets. The smallest body guards a girl could have. We think alike. Finish each other’s sentences. Then we scoff because we did. Lol! We become Gale in our ways and we’ll both deny that truth. We keep secrets. We plot and plan. You’re my home slice until the end of time and I’m thankful for you sissy! My #Teammommy.
You keep me focused. You keep me cool. You keep me laughing. You keep me confident. This journey would be insane without having someone to share with, confide in, and learn from. I’m thankful for your transparency, for your encouragement, and for your prayers. My sisters.
No other group of women inspire me/move me into greatness. I AM because someone looked beyond what was written and saw the real me! I am thankful that the greatest of these is love!

No matter how many miles apart we are.
No matter how often we see each other.
No matter how many times we call or text or get lost in the chaos of the day & days become weeks of not communicating, I know that without you I would lose my marbles.
I’m thankful for your friendship in its own form. I’m thankful for your support. For keeping me from level 10 because we know it’s easy for me to get there. I’m thankful that we create our own blueprint and for that, individually, we’ve stood the test of time!
Happy Thanksgiving ladies!
The No Makeup visionaries.
For your purchase of my book.
For joining me, in your own way, on this journey.
I couldn’t do it without you!
I’m thankful for your belief in my message.
I’m thankful for your love of my mission.
All faces ‘behind the makeup’ come alive in the spirit of honesty!
Thank you!
I wish everyone a safe holiday.

Sidenote:
I love the movie The Other Guys and they play this song in the movie. I stalked it down, added it to my playlist, and I keep it on repeat. It's such a feel good song! It doesn't have anything to do with my post but I love it! :)
