Day 15: I am thankful for LOVE

Hello #nomakeup community!!

Okay so I'm going to be honest and say my plan was to post every 5 days but on the 10th I was boogieing at Scott's cousins wedding in Philadelphia and we had to drive 13 hours back therefore I'm just now getting around to writing this post. *sigh*

Without further adieu I am thankful for LOVE!

Scott and I drove to Philadelphia this past weekend for his cousins wedding and to celebrate his grandmother turning 80. Pretty awesome huh?! On the way there we stopped in Virginia at a rest area, kind of in a rush, but saw this LOVE display and I had to take a picture in it. During our picture we met this amazing couple in ministry, with the purest spirits and the CUTEST baby who reminded us the importance of just enjoying this time and not always being in a rush. (Go figure) I just knew God wanted us to have that reminder and to remember to be in the moment of where ever we are, never missing His goodness.

Initially we weren't going to go just because we have so much going on and so much that we are trying to get in order but despite all of that I kept feeling in my spirit to take this time for one another. If you've noticed in my posts from this summer I was super busy! With all of my travels, my honey was either traveling himself or he was working hard. When I took a moment to think about our 2013 I realized that we haven't had a trip TOGETHER all year!! In the 7 years we've been together and 6 years married that is a FIRST! When I had this revelation I knew we needed to take this trip and I am so happy we did.

When Scott and I were dating he took me to Virginia for my birthday!

Of course I was thinking Lord I know you've confirmed this man as the man you created to be my husband but if we can't survive 7 hours in the car we will need to have a talk. haha! I'm an army brat and I feel like I grew up in the backseat of a car. Learning more about where states were from seeing welcome signs than actually looking at a map. Being able to ride with someone over 6 hours and not want to push them out of the car is MAJOR for me. My family drives more than any other means of transportation and until you've rode 24 hours in the car with 8 people you have not LIVED a road trip. So as you can see, once we survived that trip to Virginia, I knew that he was the man for me... Among other things ;) When I told people we were driving to Philadelphia their eyes were hanging out of their heads. They couldn't understand why we would choose to drive versus catching a flight and getting there much faster. It shouldn't come as a shock when I say we enjoy being around each other.
14 hour trip turned into 15 hours because someone ate my sandwich
In the hustle of life, especially our life, it is harder than one would think to get us in the same room with each other where one person doesn't pass out before ever starting a conversation. It's a challenge! But after driving through 9 different states and two time zones we made it to the city of brotherly love ready to eat some Philly Cheese steaks!

And let me just say that I'm convinced I can eat from Larry's like everyday and while I was there I tried to. I always create an itinerary when we travel and I decided I wanted to be a tourist on this trip. The last time we visited Philadelphia was for his grandfather's funeral which was the first time I had ever been to the city and met that side of the family. I was so excited to be able to go back for a happier occasion, to see the family, and just check out parts of the city I usually read about! The first and main attraction on my list was Love Park.

I will admit the statue looks much bigger on T.V. but I didn't care because I was excited to be there with my husband! We also visited the visitors center and the Liberty Bell Center which is on my list for the next time we go because the inside was closed:

The weekend was full of good food, great laughs, MUCH needed rest, and some quality time with my honey and I'm so thankful to have the love that we have for one another as we grow into the man and woman God is calling us to be!

What/Who do you need to rekindle your love to? Make time to be in that moment without rushing it to be over! #pressOn

All my love,

Caneeka

P.S. Mommies I promise I'm working on Tre's Bookshelf posts! We just got some new books from the school book fair and I'm so excited to share them!
