I am thankful for America.
I’m super proud to be a citizen of the United States primarily in times when I’m reminded of how different my life could be if I lived in another country. Recently with the bombings occurring in Israel, it wasn’t until I watched a video of the battle going on there that I began to count my blessings even more. My heart broke when I found out that rockets were being shot from the top of schools and hospitals putting women, children, and the sick/elderly at a very high risk. Immediately my mommy heart began to ache as I imagined my son being one of those children having to live through that. As a mother I couldn’t begin to fully wrap my brain around it. At church my pastor mentioned how the sirens, that we hear when a tornado is near, hasn’t gone off there since the 70’s. But since this battle has started they’ve gone off every day, non-stop. I don’t know if you’ve heard tornado sirens or any type of siren alerting you of danger but aside from it creating an atmosphere of anxiety, it’s quiet annoying. A constant reminder that you aren’t safe, you aren’t in the clear from danger and that you need to take cover because you are in harm’s way; THAT is scary! So I pray for those in the Middle East. I pray for the families, the babies, our soldiers who haven’t made it home yet and those doing the killing. I pray that hearts will be mended and that God shows up in that place and surrounds it with His perfect peace.
All my love,
Caneeka
