How do we grow if we continue doing the same thing over and over? Some of us aren’t even expecting a different result so I can’t label your behavior insanity. Some of us find ourselves comfortable with the way things have been and we dare not challenge the system or rock the boat. But why do we fail to get out of the boat? We give people and situations a label because of something we experienced previously and instead of moving forward to the next thing we remain stagnant. I know so many people with relational strongholds that they don’t have to have. You don’t have to be with someone who doesn’t treat you the way you deserve to be treated, you don’t have to remain friends with someone just because you’ve always been friends, you don’t have to live up to the hype of what the world has said you would become. You just have to be YOU. I say that so easily but I have to remind myself that some of you have no idea who you are. So who are you? What are your values? What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? Why don’t you STRIVE to do that? What holds you back from stepping into your greatness? Better yet WHO holds you back from stepping into your greatness? Be honest. No one is looking. That person is the person you need to let go.
I saw a picture a few months ago on instagram of a guy going to the same barber for years; refusing to go to another barber because of his commitment to him but in the same pic stitch a picture of him cheating on his girlfriend. I laughed but then stopped laughing because many people, not just guys, practice this same behavior. We will dedicate our time and lives to someone/something no matter how horrible they are but those people/things that have proven their loyalty to you, encouraging you in your growth, we treat like scum.
We want the good thing but we are too afraid to let go of what it takes to receive the good thing.
Our attitudes hinder us from reaching the next level and some of us are so blinded by the junk we carry we blame our complacency on everything around us. I let the thoughts, actions, words spoken and unspoken of other people run my perception of who I am for years: See Once upon a time I was a doormat. I began to realize in those moments where I felt worthless; those who I allowed to get me in that place were frolicking in the streets singing Life is good. Tired of the foolery I stopped doing the same thing, I stopped letting comfort dictate my decisions and I started walking into my purpose as a woman with a vision. Stop pursuing people, places, and things because of what you think you will receive in return. Our expectations can set us up for disappointment and we will find ourselves stumbling every time. You have to start having a desire for a new beginning the moment you feel something in your spirit that tells you to keep your eyes open.
I’d rather spend a lifetime walking alone than any more of this life walking with wolves.
I had a dream a few months ago about the gear in my car being stolen that reminded me I’m not in control and get out of the driver’s seat. It really empowered me in this season and I hope it does the same for you:
Be encouraged. Things have shifted; the right people are going to come across your path. You don’t need everyone; people will find you. Nehemiah had a dream to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem; God wouldn’t have given you a dream without a plan to bring it to pass. (Nehemiah 2:8) You will move into higher gears as God uses you in a greater capacity. Your acceleration is not going to take as long because God is going to cause things to fall into place. Get ready because no longer will it be business as usual. Your root system is being developed because there is a harvest to be released through you.
The Rules:
You can’t keep thinking about what you lack or feeling defeated.
Those distractions are hindering you from your calling.
Stop placing limits on God.
Stop believing that this season will be permanent.
Stop being afraid to be obedient and take the steps you need to take.
All my love,
Caneeka
