"Glamour is about feeling good in your own skin."- Zoe Saldana
I am thankful for my facial cleanser.
I know this is random
but let me explain. I had HORRIBLE acne during those horrible years of puberty.
On top of your regular pubescent acne explosion, I discovered in middle school
that I have something called Steatocystoma multiplex. Basically it is a
condition in which my body produces too much oil to come out of my pores so it
instead creates these multiple balls of oil underneath my skin (cysts).
I learned
later in life that when my body experiences any stress of any kind (whether
conscious or not) these cysts will flare up and they become very painful. I
have been to too many dermatologists to count, some of which who understand the
condition enough to not make me feel like an alien, and some who, although
inadvertently, made me feel like the elephant man. None of which were able to
provide me any insight into the condition other than it may or may not be
genetic and there isn’t anything they can do about it.
Through this process
I’ve learned to keep oil based products from my skin as a means to not irritate
what I already have going on. This makes me very conscious of keeping my face
clean and oil free as much as possible. I recognize that there are people in
places without running water not to mention a tube of Nivea Visage, Clean and
Clear or Neutrogena so I am very thankful for the luxury of facial cleanser. :)
All my love ,
Caneeka
