The Author: On The Heels... of an amazing encounter! (Book Release)

I’m back!!
You know when it rains it pours and after my son’s birthday our summer travels were non-stop!
The bachelorette party for one of my best friends
road trip to Cleveland
DST Centennial Celebration
Family Reunion
and finally the wedding
I have seen more of the highway than my house in the last month, not to mention, in the midst of all of this, I was pressed to complete the edits (huge thank you to my sister/June 21st mother twin Leah from 3 Girls with Curls! Two mothers with toddlers making it happen) and release my devotional On the Heels of My Father!!! Before I pick up blogging about what I’ve been doing since the end of June, what I’ve learned, trials I faced in the month of July, and sharing a message to encourage you along the way I must take this time to say THANK YOU to those who have ordered their copy of On the Heels of My Father.

There really isn’t enough space to pour out how much your support means and there isn’t enough space to express how much this project wrecked me. As you know I’m a poet. My life has been a syntax and rhythm since the 6th grade. So for God to stretch me to use my writing to encourage but to also share my vulnerable places and be completely transparent about my spiritual walk it is overwhelmingly amazing! It’s one thing to be a poet and share your junk through a rhyme that only certain minds can understand but it’s an entire different ballgame when you write it plain so that whoever reads it can share it! (Habakkuk 2:2)

This book is 205 pages of what I would send to my friends when they are in need of a message. So you will feel like we are on the couch discussing stories in the bible, relating them to real life situations, and praying each prayer I wrote throughout the book. On the Heels is a tool to give you that push when you feel like you can’t be moved. I’m not perfect, my walk isn’t perfect, and my life isn’t perfect; I’m not the perfect wife and I’m not a perfect woman. On the Heels of My Father is about recognizing those imperfections, to stop being intimidated by them, and to stop allowing them to block your relationship with God. I was judging myself without giving God a chance to love me and guide me. I was quitting before I got started because I was listening to lies straight up from the pits of hell.

Long version- In this book you’ll get 84 devotionals on topics ranging from marriage, tithing, checking your circle, intercession, sharing your story, checking your actions, watching your words, addressing those idols, and most importantly encouraging you to fulfill the God said: Your purpose!! You will also find my testimony that kicked off this entire project, some encouraging email messages, and 7 poems, 2 of which I just wrote right before releasing the book.

Short version- With this book you can expect to:

*Be EMPOWERED by your story
*Help you feel UPLIFTED on your journey through this season
*Challenge you to walk fearlessly into your PURPOSE.

I cried going through every message, wanted to quit many days, had to break a lot because I was getting checked, and I battled with God often over these past 10 months about releasing this book. But I completely left my heart beating in this book and I pray you experience freedom from bondage, healing from hurts, and an encounter with God about where He is getting ready to launch you in this next season!

I encourage you to answer the questions at the end of each devotional honestly. They are questions I asked myself after reading each one and God told me to put them in the book. Your honesty about where you are, what your addictions are (drinking, drugs, pornography, masturbation, gambling, multiple sex partners, cheating, lying, disobedience, drama etc.) what junk you’ve been carrying, who hurt you, and that jealousy you refused to admit is there is what will propel you forward into your purpose with a clear mind, open heart, and a surrendered spirit so that God can step in and really piece together your broken places.

If you can’t relate but you know someone hurting in silence in a place of complete desperation for an encounter from God I encourage you to share this with them. One thing that the Holy Spirit kept reminding me, during those times my weight had me pinned to the floor, was that I wasn’t alone. I was confident enough in God to believe that what He told me was true without having someone share their story with me but some people need that physical reassurance. If God can yank me out, shake me up, and refocus my eyes on what HE has said then I promise you my loves he will do the same for you!

We are all walking On The Heels of an amazing encounter but some of us have no idea how close we are! Keep pressing! Keep moving! Keep living! Keep dreaming! BE bold! BElieve! Godsaid he’ll never leave you so just follow His lead!

I look forward to hearing what your favorite devotions are and reading your testimony in due time! #ontheHeels (The hashtag)

All my Love,

Caneeka
