Sometimes people need to be reassured of the way you feel about them and if people are anything like me I don't express myself often unless it's through my writing. And with that I'm the only one that reads it unless I do some spoken word once or twice a month. So this piece is my reassurance....

just when you thought i let you go.
just when it seemed as if i dropped you like a penny for your thoughts,
I Carried You.
my back may not be as big as yours
and
you probably don't think i'm strong enough.
Neither do i,
but
I Carried You.
I Loved You.
before you discovered what love was,
what letter it began with,
and
what it truly meant.
I Loved You before you had a chance to stop loving me.
I Loved You Still.
despite my refusal,
despite my fear,
despite what I've been through,
despite my tears.
I've Loved You Since.
Since
boys were spinning on their backs
and
before girls learned how to Mac.
I've Loved You since before floppy disks and eight tracks,
before God gave me life itself.
I Walk With You.
Like HE walks with me
and
contrary to your beliefs my legs feel fine.
Because
I'm Walking this straight line,
biting my nails to pass the time,
you are my truth through the tiny white lies.
I walk
and
have yet to run away....
